Defence Cabinet Secretary Amb. Raychelle Omamo awards Julie Munyui the 3rd best student in the Moi Forces Academy 2017 KCSE.
Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Raychelle Omamo on 3 August 2018, graced a Prize Giving Day Ceremony at the Moi Force Academy (MFA) Lanet in Nakuru County.
Ambassador Omamo arrived at the school shortly after 0900Hrs and she was welcomed by the students, teachers and parents of the Moi Forces Academy.
In his welcoming remarks, the Commandant, Kenya Military Academy, Major General George Owinow, who is also a member of the school board, said that the Kenya Defence Forces, and particularly the Kenya Military Academy will continue to support MFA in order to ensure that the girls achieve their goals at the academy. He further commended the girls for their good performance which he attributed to the discipline upheld at the school. “Of notable appreciation is the high discipline that has been maintained in the school. I therefore thank the Chief Principal and the teaching staff for their hard work in ensuring that the girls achieve their goals”, he said.
In her keynote address, the Cabinet Secretary affirmed the position of the Ministry in supporting the development of the school, adding that infrastructure and welfare of the students and staff would continuously be improved.
She further urged the students to believe in themselves, adding that self-esteem is key to achieving one’s goals. “You have to believe in yourself. You need to be your own role model and motivate yourself. Don’t wait for someone else to be your role model”, she said.
The Cabinet Secretary presented awards and gifts to the best performers at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2016 – 2017, the teaching and non-teaching staff and those students who excelled in various subjects.
Also present during the ceremony were, the Commandant Kenya Military Academy (KMA) Major General George Owino, Colonel Education Defence Headquarters – Colonel John Maloba, Commandant DEFSHE – Colonel P N Kamanda, Lieutenant Colonel Jared Oigara from the Kenya Military Academy, County and Sub-County Directors of Education Nakuru county, Board members, parents, among other invited guests.
