The Ministry of Defence Holds a Fete for its Civilian Retirees

The Ministry of Defence on Friday, 31 August 2018 held a colourful farewell party for the Ministry’s civilian retirees for the year 2018 at the Kahawa Garrison, Nairobi.

The event which was presided over by the Ministry’s Principal Secretary, Torome Saitoti, was also graced by the Deputy Army Commander, Major General Thomas Chepkuto¬† and the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces, Personnel and logistics, Major General Fatuma Ahmed. Also in attendance were senior KDF officers and officers from the civilian wing of the Ministry of Defence, Service Members amongst other guests.

In his address, the PS thanked the retirees for a job well done in giving support to the military component as they protect Kenya’s territorial integrity. He also lauded the harmonious coexistence of the civilian staff and the soldiers in all their years of service in the ministry which he attributed to good discipline. He urged the retirees to employ the leadership skills they have learnt in the Ministry of Defence in building the nation in other capacities.
