State Visit to Kenya by the President of the Republic of Uganda

The President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday, 27 March 2019, visited the Republic of Kenya where he was cordially received by his Kenyan counterpart H. E. President Uhuru Kenyatta accompanied by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto and the Chief of the Defence Forces  General Samson Mwathethe at Mombasa International Airport.  The visiting head of state inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Kenya Navy.

The rare occasion happened when the regional integration is at top gear as envisaged in East African Community accord.  Kenya has made big strides in achieving this accord with the Kenya military being at the forefront in ensuring that it observes the integration process which is seen in the East Africa Community militaries steadfast relationship through the East African Community joint military exercises, games and cultural events. The military cooperation addresses various security challenges in operational cooperation and training, disaster management and response programmes, cultural and sports activities, among others.

This is the first visit by a foreign head of state to land in Mombasa.   The visit marks the start of the two days’ state visit by the Ugandan President where the two Heads of State are expected to discuss bilateral trade and strengthening of the regional peace and stability.
