Kenyatta University Holds 10th Matriculation Ceremony for Military Cadets

Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Forces General Samson Mwathethe on 14th June 2019 presided over the matriculation of Kenya Military Academy (KMA) Cadets set to pursue Bachelor of Science in Military and Security Studies at Kenyatta University Main Campus in Nairobi.

Speaking at the ceremony the VCDF congratulated the KMA 09 Cadets challenging them to make use of the golden opportunity to gain knowledge that would enable them serve well in the military.

“Today marks the beginning of your journey at Kenyatta University. After the three years of study, you are expected to come out as wholistically trained leaders ready to face the complexities of global security,” he said.

The VCDF urged the cadets to maintain high levels of commitment, diligence and industriousness throughout the comprehensive academic training.

Additionally, the VCDF said that the training they acquire in KMA and KU will not only make them good fighters but also prepare them to serve humanity towards fulfilment of KDF vision and mission.

Lt Gen Kibochi acknowledged the partnership between the Kenya Defence Forces and Kenyatta University which dates back to 2010 noting that the program has occasioned a tremendous intellectualism growth in KDF.

Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Wainaina expressed the pride and honour entrusted to the University to train KDF personnel. He encouraged the matriculates to establish a good relationship with their lecturers and to maximize the use of facilities available in the university during their period of study.

Present during the ceremony were Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Personnel and Logistics Major General Fatuma Ahmed, Commandant KMA Major General Albert Kendagor among other senior officers.
