African Air Chiefs have engaged in critical aspects of their air forces, sharing best practices for enhancing partner capability and inter-operable policies and procedures for casualty evacuation in hostile as well as peaceful theaters.
In day three of the African Air Chiefs Symposium taking place in Nairobi, the Air Chiefs were split into smaller groups with participants discussing various aspects including air force support to humanitarian assistance/disaster response, utilizing air to ground integration in personnel recovery and air force roles and functions within a national search and rescue architecture.
Commander Kenya Air Force Major General Francis Ogolla had an opportunity to share the Kenyan experience in supporting the civil authorities within and outside the country. These included evacuation of civilians in flooded areas at the Coastal Regions of Kilifi and Tana River, relief food distribution in various parts of the country and support to the victims affected by Cyclone Idai in Mozambique.
As the symposium draws to a close, the African Air Chiefs are positive that the objective the forum are being realized.
