General Robert Kibochi, the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), visited the Kenya Air Force (KAF) Headquarters at the Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The CDF was received by Major General Francis Ogolla the Commander KAF and other senior officers.
The visit began with the CDF laying a wreath at the monument of fallen Air Force Personnel.
This was followed by a brief on the current status of Kenya Air Force and a visit to various key KAF wings and squadrons at Moi Air Base.
In his address to airmen and airwomen at the Sina Makosa Stadium, the CDF commended the Kenya Air Force for upholding professionalism and ethical standards in performing their key mission of safeguarding Kenya’s airspace sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also noted KAF’s assistance to civil authority, with the recent deployment of firefighting capability at Gikomba Market in Nairobi and airlifting of stranded Kenyans from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“Being a technical-oriented Service, I commend Kenya Air Force for maintaining equipment to the highest standards,” said the CDF.
In his conclusion, the CDF said, “I promise to support you in achieving mission readiness through enhanced joint training as well as filling of gaps in capabilities as well as in welfare in order that you undertake all tasks as assigned.”
Commander Kenya Air Force informed the CDF of KAF’s total support towards the achievement of overall KDF mission.
“I wish to underscore that Kenya Air Force has a strategic plan including leveraging on technology and modernisation of infrastructure in order to be a premier air force that delivers air defence 24 hours, seven days a week,” said Maj Gen Ogolla.
