Ulinzi Stars Beat Mathare FC Football Team at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru

Ulinzi stars continued with their unbeaten run this season after thrashing Mathare FC by five goals to one at Afraha stadium. It was one of the best performances this season, marking a good comeback after back-to-back draws against defending champions Tusker FC and Western Stima.

The Soldiers were hot on their heels and in the first fourteen minutes of the first half, Ulinzi had netted in three goals.  Samuel ‘daddy’ Onyango hit the back of the net in the sixth minute after a cross from Bryian Birgen. Stephen Waruru scored a brace in the ninth and fourteenth minute after capitalizing on mistakes by the Mathare defence.

The soldiers kept their spirited fight dominating all areas. Mathare managed to squeeze in a consolation goal. In the second half, Mathare tried all they could but the soldiers were hard on them leaving no chance for their opponents.

A foul was committed on Cliff Kasuti in the 72nd minute forcing the referee to show the spot kick.  Daniel Waweru tapped in the fourth goal through the penalty kick. Three minutes to the end of the game, substitute Enosh Ochieng headed in the ball from a Daniel Waweru cross making it 5 goals to 1. Mathare had a chance to respond through a penalty kick but skipper James Suruni saved the day.  Ulinzi Stars are fourth on the table with 12 points.
