Chief of Inspectorate Defence Headquarters Brigadier Ibrahim Sora gives a speech on behalf of Assistant Chief of Defence Forces, Operations, Doctrine and training Maj Gen Adan Mulata (the patron Islamic Centre Defence Headquarters) during Idd Baraza held on 5th July 2017 at Defence Headquarters.
Kenya Defence Forces Muslim faithful converged at the Defence Headquarters Nairobi, to celebrate the Idd Baraza presided over by Dr Islam Mohammed the Vice Chancellor of RAF University on 4th July 2017.
The celebration was characterized by talks of tolerance of cohesiveness and brotherhood tones from different speakers. The chief guest Dr Islam challenged the faithful to remain committed to their faith and pray for one another not only during hard times but regularly.
“Today I call upon everyone irrespective of religion affiliation to honor the message of peace and tranquility, the issue of having peace and vice versa depends on us as individuals,” said the clergy.
The Chief of Inspectorate Defence Headquarters Brigadier Ibrahim Sora who represented the Patron of Defence Headquarters Islamic Centre, ACDF OPD&T Maj Gen Adan Mulata at the event called upon the faithful to embrace cohesiveness irrespective of ethnicity or faith noting that the Kenya Defence Forces represented the true face of Kenya and were all accommodated. He thanked the entire military echelon and the gathering for the peace and harmony witnessed during the Holy month of Ramadhan and encouraged the military faithful to embark on discharging their duties for the good of the nation.
“I appreciate the KDF for the support accorded during the Holy month of Ramadan. This is recognition of the authority to the religion by the leadership. This is a good gesture to be rewarded by continuing to conduct prayers.” Said Brig Sora.
In his speech, Chief of Personnel Headquarter Kenya Army Brigadier Henry Ofula took this opportunity to thank the organization of the Muslim fraternity in the KDF given the manner in which they were organized during the holy month of Ramadhan.
“The spiritual nourishment in the religion is good and I call upon for consistency in the manner of prayers, this was evident especially during the period of Ramadhan where it was observed that the Muslim community was seen to be more committed to bringing the best out of their work to the entire community.” Brig Ofula said.
Others who addressed the gathering include SUPKEM representative Sheikh Lali and Sheikh Ibrahim Lethome Legal Advisor – Jamia Mosque, Nairobi.
Present during the occasion were Senior Officers, former Principal Imam Lt Col Ibrahim Bonaya, Service Members among other invited guests.
