KCB Group through KCB Corporate Director Mr. Moezz Mir officially presented KIT Sponsorship to the Kenya Defence Forces Boxing team under the umbrella Defence Forces Amateur Boxing Association (DEFABA) through the Department of Defence Camp Administration Unit Commandant Colonel Jacob Ondieki, on 13th October 2017 at the Kenya Army Officers Mess Hurlingham, Nairobi.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defence Cabinet Secretary and the Chief of Defence Forces, Colonel Jacob Ondieki appreciated the kind gesture KCB Group has accorded KDF through collaborating with DEFABA in offering KIT Sponsorship to a tune of Kshs.322, 000. Colonel Ondieki noted that KCB Group has been able to sponsor various activities and initiatives through the collaboration and has proved to be a worthy and reliable institution. He further urged KCB to maintain the cordial relationship as it is benefiting both institutions in terms driving forward positive agendas and in this case, welfare of KDF boxers who have over the years exhibited exemplary performance both locally and internationally.

In his speech, KCB Corporate Director Mr Moezz Mir on behalf of KCB Group said that the banking institution appreciates and values KDF commitment and sacrifice in their sacrosanct duty of defending the country against external threats. He said he was delighted to have the opportunity to share a moment with KDF sports personalities and especially the representatives of the Defence Forces Amateur Boxing Association whose skills have been impeccable over the years contributing a bulk of boxers who have represented Kenya in Olympic Boxing qualification in Europe with great skills. “Today we are gathered here to partner with you in achieving your strategic plans and supporting initiatives under the KDF mandate. As KCB Group, we are proud to partner with KDF in promoting the already existing sporting culture among the KDF rank and file,” he said.
Among other areas KCB has partnered with KDF in are the Defence Forces Canteen Organization (DEFCO) and Defence Medical Insurance Services (DEFMIS), of which they have promised to expand further and look into other possible departments and initiatives to help enhance the KCB-KDF relationship.

Present during the sponsorship deal was the Officer-in-charge KDF Boxing Team Lieutenant Colonel Paul Mung’ori, KCB Sector Head, Government & International Organizations Mrs. Caroline Karanja, KCB staff, DEFABA officials and KDF Boxers.
