The Kenya Defence Forces catholic fraternity celebrated the Eucharistic Chrism Mass on 27th May 2018 at the Saints Peter and Paul Church, Defence Headquarters in a ceremony presided over by the Right Reverend Salesius Mugambi Bishop of Meru Catholic Diocese.
Giving his Easter message, Bishop Mugambi urged the Christians to remain prayerful throughout this period of Easter and to pray for the soldiers in operation areas since they go through tough times. He also thanked the KDF fraternity for committing their time and coming together to celebrate mass which is an important day in a Christian life.
“I am humbled to be here and I thank all of you for taking your time to come and celebrate this day together as one family, this is important in your life as a Christian. Remember to help the poor with the little God has given you, visit the sick, pray for your brothers and sisters in operations and remain disciplined at all times.’’ said Bishop Mugambi.
The Chrism Mass is celebrated every last week of lent season in preparation for the Holy Thursday and Easter Holiday.The main purpose of the Mass is blessing of the anointing oil, which will be used by the church ministers for different purposes for the next one year.
In attendance was the Chief of Personnel Kenya Army Brigadier Henry Ofula, Apostolic Administrator Colonel (Very Reverend) Father Benjamin Maswili, Senior Officers and Military Catholic Chaplains from different brigades.
