Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Muslim faithfuls converged at the Defence Headquarters Nairobi, for their annual Idd Barazza in celebration of the end of Ramadhan. The ceremony was presided over by KDF Principal Imam Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Malik Rubeya.
The celebration was characterized by talk of tolerance, cohesiveness and brotherhood from different speakers. The chief guest Sheikh Mohammed Swalihu, Imam of Jamia Mosque challenged the faithfuls to remain committed to their faith and pray for one another not only during hard times but regularly, and to hold onto the faith.
He called upon everyone irrespective of religion to maintain the teachings of God. He said we should always be grateful and thankful for the opportunity to serve Him and work freely in the Military as brothers. “Despite our different religions, we all come from the same God.” he said.
Colonel Suleiman Kibwana, represented the KDF Muslims patron Major General Adan Mulata (Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Operations Doctrine and Training). In his speech he called upon the faithfuls to embrace cohesiveness irrespective of ethnicity or faith. He noted that KDF represented the true face of Kenya and all religious diversities are accommodated. He thanked the administration and the gathering for the peace and harmony witnessed during the Holy month of Ramadhan and encouraged the military faithfuls to embark on discharging their duties for the good of the nation.
Major Imam Ibrahim Abdi Noor, in his vote of thanks expressed gratitude towards those who honored the invitation to come and celebrate with them.
Others who graced the occasion included Brigadier (Retired) Ahmed Mohammed, Commandant Defence Headquarters CAU (Camp Administrative Unit) Colonel Jacob Ondieki, SUPKEM representative Mr. Bakari Ahmed, Principal Chaplain Anglican Church Lieutenant Colonel Alphonso Lelei, Senior Officers including Staff Officer Class One in charge of Muslims at the Kenya Army Headquarters Lieutenant Colonel Maulim Shukri, Deputy Vice Chancellor Ummah University Professor Mohammad Karama, Service Members among other invited guests.
