BURUNDI DAY 50TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS HELD AT THE COUNTRY’S CAPITAL ON 2ND JULY 2012.

President Nkurunzinza and the first lady of Burundi together with President Mwai Kibaki stand as the Burundi National Anthem was being played during the Burundi Day 50th Independence Anniversary.

The President of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Mwai Kibaki, on 2nd July 2012 attended Burundi’s Independence Day. This day marked 50 years since Burundi attained her Independence. The President was in the company of the Minister of State for Defence Hon. Yusuf Haji, Chief of the Defence Forces of Kenya Gen. Julius Karangi and other senior government officials.  
During the colourful ceremony, The East African countries had each given a troop of soldiers to conduct the march past. The Kenyan contingent was the second to march past the main dais behind the host nation contingent.
The Head of State for Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza thanked the heads of state and all the guests for gracing the occasion.
