Maj Gen Joff Otieno, 'EBS' 'OGW' 'AWC'(USA) 'psc'(k)

General Joff Otieno is currently the Air Force Commander. He has held various command position at the Kenya Air Force including Commandant Defence Staff College, Secretary National Defence College, Chief of Logistics Defence Headquarters, Director of Logistics Kenya Air Force, Colonel Equipment Kenya Air Force Headquarters and Commandant Kenya Defence Forces Technical College.

General Otieno was born on 29 November 1956, in Siaya District, Kenya. He was educated at Menengai High School, Nakuru and University of Nairobi for Bachelor of Science degree before commissioning into the Kenya Air Force on 1st April 1981.

His professional military education includes: Air War College in USA ,Grade II Staff Course at the Defence Staff College and Grade III Staff Course at Armed Force Training College both in Kenya, Engineering Course in UK , International Defence Management Course USA, Special Training in aerosystem engineering UK, Avionics Engineering Specialist USA, Executive Development Course at Mbagathi, Policy analysis and Senior Management both at Kenya Institute of Administration , International Senior Officers Peace Support Operations Planning at Peace Support Training College, all in Kenya. He started his engineering career at Kenya Defence Forces Technical College.

His decorations and awards include the prestigious Elder of the order of Burning Spear (EBS), Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW), 10 th and 20 th Anniversary Medals, 20 th Independence Anniversary Medals.

General Otieno and his wife Sheila have six children.
