| The Minister of State for Defence of the Republic of Kenya Hon. Yusuf Haji, on 5th of July 2012, signed a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart, Minister for Defence of Sierra Leon Major (Rtd) Alfred Palo Conteh of Sierra Leone. This is after Sierra Leone joined AMISOM and has decided to work together with Kenyan troops in its war against the terrorist group Al Shabaab.
After signing the MOU, the Defence Minister Hon Yusuf Haji and the Chief of the Defence Forces Gen Julius Karangi addressed members of the press outside the Defence Headquarters offices on the issue pertaining to simultaneous grenade attacks on two churches in Garissa town. The Minister of Defence elaborated on rules and measures being put in place to enhance security within the country.
