First Female Kenya Air Force pilot claims her wings from the Flying Training School.

On Friday 15th September 2006, Lt Norah Cherop Koech made history when she became the first female KAF officer to graduate from the Flying Training School as a pilot and subsequently becoming the first operational pilot in the service-a profession that has been the preserve of male officers.Read more

Maj Gen Harold M Tangai 'MGH' 'EBS' 'ndc' 'psc'(K)

Maj Gen Tangai was born on 27 February 1956, in Taita District,Kenya.He was educated in Shimo-la-Tewa High School,Mombasa before commissioning into the Kenya Air Force in 1979.He started his flying career at the Elementary Flying School before proceeding to the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad in India where he completed both the basic and advanced Jet flying training. Post- independence Kenya Air Force Commanders:

Colonel Gichuru, 4th KAF Commander and the first indigenous Kenyan to hold the post .

Shortly after attaining independence on 12 December 1963, Group Capt Ian Sargenson was seconded to the RAF Eastleigh and appointed the first post independence Kenya Air Force Commander. Read more

The Kenya Army celebrated its 43rd anniversery and its first ever Army day celebration on 8 th September 2006 in Nakuru. In a show of solidarity, the Kenya Air Force participated by providing static line and free fall Para dropping activities for the day, not to mention air transportation of dignitaries to and from the venue. MOI AIR BASE WINS THE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD FOR THE KENYA ARMED FORCES.

The Deputy Air Force Commander Brig Waweru (in the middle)receiving the prestigious Total Ecochallenge environmental trophy from the Deputy director of Total Kenya.
