PAY MATTERS
Mandate
The Kenyan military pay structure currently in operation has evolved as a result of various reviews conducted by the Armed Forces Pay Review Board( AFPRB) since it was constituted by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya and the Commander- in- Chief of the Armed Forces on 14th December, 1978. The board whose Gazettement was done through a legal notice No.3497 of 7th December, 1979, was assigned the task of reviewing the Pay, Allowances,Terms and Conditions of service and related fringe benefits of all ranks of the Armed Forces and any other Forces administered by the Defence Council. The reviews have been carried out by the Armed Forces Pay Review Board every four years, or at any time that His Excellency the President and the Commander- in -Chief of the Armed Forces considers that such a review is necessary.
Responsibilities of the Armed Forces Pay Review Board (AFPRB)
a. To advise His Excellency the President on Pay and Allowances of all ranks of the Armed Forces and any other Forces administered by the Defence Council, for example, the Armed Forces Constabulary, and;
b. To under take a pay review every four years or at any time His Excellency the President considers that such a review is necessary.
