The Moi Air Base Tree Nursery is a self help project initiated in July 2005 . The purpose of the project is to create a healty and sustainable working environment through planting of trees.

The nursery is run by service personnel and specializes in all types of tree seedlings including: fruits (both grafted and non-grafted), herbal trees, cloned and improved eucalyptus trees, tissue bananas, indigenous trees, Amarula trees, floral trees among others. Since its inception, the project has produced over 60,000 seeedlings of various types. Some of the seedlings have been planted on the base while the rest have been sold to service and non-service personnel at reasonable prices.

In addition to the nursery project, the Base has planted 2500 eucalyptus trees on its premises this year. An additional 2500 indigenous trees are planned for planting this month through the sponsorship of Eco Total Challenge Company Ltd.

The nursery attendants are fairly trained with 13 of them having attended special training on nursery management at the Bio-Technique Tree Project (BTP) - Karura forest. Seven of them attended and completed tissue banana and grafting technologyn course at JKUAT this year.

the nurseryn is working in collaboration with National Environmental Management Authority(NEMA), BTP, JKUAT and Eco Total Challenge Company Ltd. This year, 2500 trees have been planted on the Base, planting of another 2500 indigeneous trees is planned for October 2006 during the short rains.
