Disaters have become a normal phenomena in today's world. In its mandate to support the civil authority in times of need, the Kenya Air Force continues to be actively involved in disasters to mitigate human suffering, loss of lives and property. Recent responses to disaters include:

  • Delivery of relief cargo,medicine and medics to victims of floods in Budalangi, Kano plains, parts of coast province and Tana river basin in April and May 2006 while remaining on stand by for possible evacuation or search and rescue requirements.

  • Collapsed building at Nyamakima. KAF responded by providing medics and search and rescue teams and ground equipment.
The Fomer President H E Mwai Kibaki congratulates KAF Pilots for work well done in distributing relief food and medicine to famine hit parts of the country between 25 December 2005 to 6 April 2006. The Kenya Air Force conducted relief flights to most famine affected parts of the country including this station in Moyale. National famine response operation. Inaccessible centres were reached by helicopters such as this one offloading its cargo of relief food and medicines in one of the centres .
The Kenya Air Force has be called upon on many occasions to assist in the evacuation of road traffic accidents . The Kenya Air Force actively participated, with other volunteers, in the rescue operations of the 1998 terrorist bomb attack on the USA embassy in 1998. The Kenya Air Force has responded swiftly to flood disasters in all parts of the country by flying in the required emergency.
Traditionally, the Kenya Air Force has provided fire fighting support to the Nairobi City Council as and when required. The main beneficiary has been the nearby Mathare slums where fire cases are frequent. Casualty evacuation for both military and civil cases .
