  •   Protection of our territorial integrity from external sea-borne aggression.

MISSION OF THE KENYA NAVY

To defend the country against External Sea-borne Aggression,Support to Civil Power in Maintenance of Law and Order while remaining poised to Civil Assistance in times of Disaster and Crisis and any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief of the General Staff

WAR TIME AND PEACETIME ROLES

  •   Defend our maritime territorial interests, Vital Areas and Installations.
  •   Safeguard own and friendly shipping operating in our waters.
  •   Occupied in Coast Guard Duties & Surveillance.
  •   Training of Personnel & maintenance of Equipment.
  •   Continuous Sea Patrols.

PRIMARY ROLES

  •   Policing our territorial waters.
  •   Surveillance of our EEZ.
  •   Protection of vital areas.

SECONDARY ROLES

  •   Search and Rescue operations.
  •   Fisheries protection.
  •   Prevention of contraband trade and illegal immigration.
  •   Diplomacy - flag showing.
  •   Environmental patrols.
  •   Safeguarding sea lanes of communications.
  •   Deterrence.
  •   Protection of offshore resources.
  •   Aid to civil authority.
  •   The prevention of illegal immigrants & contraband.
