Security personnel in the Boni Enclave security Operation have continued to step up community assistance to members of the public in Lamu and Garissa Counties, particularly on the advent of heavy rains.
KDF personnel from the 17 Kenya Rifles Battalion Baure military camp together with Officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) from Basuba and the Border Patrol Unit (BPU) from Mangai have joined hands with members of the public to repair a section of the greater Hindi-Kiunga road that had been damaged between Baure and Mangai. KDF medical personnel also took the opportunity to offer free medical care to needy members of the public who turned up at the site.
Members of the public led by area chief Farah Khalif have praised security officers for the initiative, mentioning that it would go a long way in easing transport, which had been greatly affected by the ongoing heavy rains.
In October 2019, KDF Engineers from the Sangailu military camp in Garissa constructed waterways for the Koran Hindi dam in the environs of Sangailu town.
The waterways will come in handy in channeling water to the dam particularly during the rainy season and ensure locals do not experience water scarcity once the rains subside.
Local leaders and elders led by area Chief Koran Hindi have promised to continue partnering with KDF and other security agencies to ensure peace and stability in Sangailu and its environs.
