‘Our Lady of Holy Rosary’ Catholic Church celebrated the Nairobi Deanery Military Youth Mass at Embakasi Barracks on Saturday, 4th January 2020.

The event attracted over 300 youths from various units within the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and was led by the Apostolic Administrator Colonel (Very Reverend Father) Benjamin Maswili.

Colonel (Fr) Maswili addressed the lack of jobs as a major challenge among graduate youths and advised them to combine hard work with prayers. “We must come and pray together for such issues,” he preached.

He added that it is in such events that the youth can share opportunities available amongst themselves and encourage one another.

Colonel (Fr) Maswili asked the youths to develop a learning spirit and embrace the virtue of humility as the year begins for it is a key to success. Further, he encouraged them to pray for KDF soldiers both in and out of the Country as they go through a lot each day, protecting Kenya against external aggression.

Other issues discussed at the mass included relationships, early marriages and addictions to drugs and other hard substances that mostly affects the youth especially during holidays and after completion of studies.

The Military Youth Mass is an annual event held every first Saturday of the year to enable the youth to network, share their challenges and pray together.
