The Kenya Defence Forces Christian faithful today joined other Christians around the world in observing Ash Wednesday which marks the start of the 40-days Lenten Season.

At the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, faithfuls at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church were led by the Apostolic Administrator Colonel (Very Reverend) Father Benjamin Maswili, who reminded the congregants of the significance of Lent.

“This is a season for penance, reflection and fasting in order to prepare us for Christ’s resurrection and for our redemption,” he said.

Father Maswili encouraged the faithfuls to observe the 40 days with utmost divine mercy which the church calls on all of them to employ during the entire Lenten Season.
