CDF'S VISIT TO KENYA DEFENCE FORCES TROOPS IN SOMALI

Chief of the Defence Forces General Julius Karangi on 20th December 2011 made a tour to the Kenya Defence Forces troops in Somalia. The visit by the CDF was to check the progress of the troops on the on going Operation Linda Nchi in which the Kenyan troops are pursuing the Al Shabaab terror group inside Somalia.

In his address to the soldiers in Somalia, the CDF praised all the KDF soldiers for their commitment to the oath of allegiance of protecting their beloved Kenya especially in the ongoing Operation Linda Nchi. He said the operation is moving in the right direction and the Al Shabaab are on the back foot where they have lost 359 fighters in last week alone by air attacks.

The operation in its third month has involved all three services of Kenya Defence Forces and has seen tremendous achievements where over 50% of war-torn area has been pacified, according to the Defence Forces chief. The CDF was accompanied by the Kenya Army Commander Lieutenant General Joseph Kasaon in the war torn Somalia.

After his Somali tour, the CDF visited Kenya Navy troops along the Indian Ocean and later the next day addressed Kenya Army personnel at Department of Defence Camp Administration Unit (DOD CAU) on 22nd December before proceeding to Kenya Air Force Headquarters at Moi Air Base, Nairobi.

Present during his address at DOD CAU the were the Vice CDF Lieutenant General Samson Mwathethe, Kenya Army Commander Lieutenant General Joseph Kasaon, Assistant CDF OPD&T Major General Nthenge, Assistant CDF P&L Major General Kihalangwa, Deputy Army Commander Major General Oyugi among others.
