KENYA AIR FORCE TRANSPORTS RELIEF FOOD TO MANDERA EAST DISTRICT

The Kenya Defence Forces have been called upon to assist the government through the Ministry of Special Programmes in food distribution to famine stricken areas. It is on this premise that the Air Force Commander Maj General Joff Otieno flagged off relief food destined for Mandera East District on 3 rd August 2011 from the Moi Air Base, Eastleigh .
The local area administration led by the District Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo received the relief food at the Mandera airstrip. Shortly after, the locals - young, old, strong and weak assembled at the District office to receive the food aid.
The Kenya Air Force Commander reiterated that we are committed in aid to civil authority and the relief food airlifts will be done for the next three months.
The local community thanked the local administration for highlighting their plight, expressed gratitude to the government for the rapid response and appreciated the transportation facilitated by the Kenya Air Force.
