On 12th May 2025, the Moi Air Base (MAB) Headquarters Wing extended a gesture of compassion and solidarity by visiting the Mother Teresa Children’s Home in Huruma. The outreach was part of the unit’s routine community engagements and in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month. The team was led by Major Kefa Plimo, from the Moi Air Base Aviation Hospital.
Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Sister Mariana, who guided them in a tour of the facility. During the tour, the personnel interacted warmly with the children, most of whom are differently abled. The visit, themed “Turn Awareness into Action,” focused on offering psychosocial support, affirming the importance of mental and emotional well-being for all.
The team donated a variety of essential home items, including soap, diapers, rice, maize and wheat flour, tissue paper, cooking oil, and various other forms of support.
Speaking on behalf of the Commanding Officer, Major Plimo emphasized the significance of the visit.
“We are here to share and stand with the members of this society. This visit is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back and expressing gratitude,” he said.
Sister Mariana expressed heartfelt gratitude to the team for their continued support over the years.
“We are truly thankful to all of you for taking the time to visit and share what you have with us. Though we may have nothing material to offer in return, we assure you of our prayers for you and your families. Always remember that together, we can do something beautiful for God,” she said.
The visit not only reinforced the Kenya Air Force’s commitment to mental health awareness and community outreach but also highlighted the power of compassion, partnership, and service beyond the call of duty and values that remain central to the Air Force’s mission and identity.
