KDF TROOPS SUPPORT KIUNGA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating under Operation Amani Boni recently undertook a community outreach to support Kiunga Primary School by bolstering their feeding programme. The mission, led by Major Julius Sanga, involved the delivery of assorted food supplies as part of an effort to reinforce the government’s Free School Lunch Programme. The food items delivered included Maize, rice, dehydrated potatoes, sugar, cooking oil, biscuits, beans, and pineapples, among others

The gesture was timely and impactful, as the school had been grappling with serious logistical challenges in the consistent resupply of essential food items. The intervention by the KDF not only bridged a critical gap but also reaffirmed their commitment to uplifting the welfare of the communities within their area of operation.

The Head Teacher of Kiunga Primary School, Mr. Mugendi, along with his teaching staff, expressed deep gratitude for the act of kindness. They acknowledged that such support goes a long way in motivating pupils to attend school regularly and remain focused in class.

Also present during the visit was Mr. Mohammed Kuchi, Chief of Kiunga Location, who commended the KDF for their continued commitment not only to securing the region from ongoing terror threats but also to promoting sustainable development. He emphasized that initiatives like these play a crucial role in enhancing school enrolment and retention, which are key pillars in securing a better future for the children of Kiunga.

This visit and donation exemplified KDF troops broader mandate, one that goes beyond military operations to include community engagement and development support, reinforcing the message that security and prosperity must go hand in hand.
