The Defence Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (DESACCO) on Saturday 24th May 2025 conducted a Cyber Security Workshop for its leadership and members of staff, at the Defence Headquarters, Nairobi.
The training aimed at sensitizing the members on digital space threats, challenges and means of mitigating them. The event was facilitated by Safaricom and was opened by DESACCO Deputy Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant Colonel Franklin Otiso.
The Deputy CEO noted that digital spaces are critical in the operability of organisations and are equally dangerous if misused. He urged participants to embrace the training with utmost seriousness.
Specified areas of training included Information Classification and Data Privacy, Internet threats and safe browsing habits, Incident response and clean desk policy, Email scams and Phishing, Passwords and Physical Security, Social Engineering and Networking threats, Learning Hubs and Malware Awareness, Data Management and Data protection.
The training brought together more than 30 Officers and service personnel, from different departments within the SACCO. DESACCO continues to undertake periodic training for personnel aimed at enhancing human resource and service delivery.
