In a continueing effort to foster peace and build trust with communities affected by banditry, KDF troops deployed under Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) in Kainuk area conducted a motivational session at Kainuk Secondary School.
The event forms part of a series of civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives championed by troops under the OMU umbrella. These engagements are designed not only to enhance security but also to inspire and uplift local youth whose education has been disrupted by the region’s long-standing insecurity.
The students warmly welcomed the visiting team, whose presence served as a strong reassurance of their safety. Kainuk Secondary School had previously suffered a bandit raid in which school livestock were stolen, leaving a lasting psychological impact on the learners.
During the session, KDF personnel encouraged the students to remain focused in their studies despite the challenges. Emphasis was placed on discipline, hard work, and the role of education in transforming lives and communities. The interactive session that followed allowed students to ask questions about the military profession, national service, and personal development.
Speaking after the session, the school’s administration expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that such interactions go a long way in building confidence among learners and restoring a sense of normalcy.
The Kenya Defence Forces remain committed to not only neutralising criminal elements in the region but also playing an active role in the socio-psychological rebuilding of communities affected by insecurity.
