The Bishop of the Military Ordinariate of Kenya, Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, presided over a vibrant rally of the Kenya Young Catholic Society (KYCS) on 14th June 2025 at Moi Forces Academy, Nairobi.
Upon arrival, the Bishop was warmly received by the school’s Principal, Mr. James Maina, who briefed him on the institution’s rich history during a courtesy call. The visit was marked by a symbolic tree-planting ceremony, signifying the school’s commitment to nurturing both faith and creation.
Under the theme “Young Fishers Hopeful in Christ,” the rally sought to inspire and empower young Christians to embrace their spiritual mission as “fishers of men.” The event emphasized the importance of deepening faith in Christ, fostering hope for the future, and encouraging active involvement in discipleship, evangelism, and community service.
In his sermon, Bishop Ng’ang’a urged the youth to remain anchored in hope through Christ and to pursue holistic education—one that nurtures the mind, spirit, body, and emotions.
“Let us not only pursue spiritual growth but also intellectual, emotional, and physical development,” the Bishop stated. “Surround yourselves with people who challenge and build you. Be balanced—a student, a servant, a thinker, and a worshiper.”
He encouraged the youth to conduct regular spiritual self-reflection, remain intentional in their walk with God, and stay faithful to their calling to serve both the Church and society.
Principal Maina echoed the Bishop’s message, emphasizing the vital role of youth in the Church’s future.
“We are not raising mere followers, but faith leaders who will transform homes, workplaces, and the nation at large,” he said. “They must be nurtured to stand firm in faith, grow in grace, and walk in boldness.”
The rally brought together KYCS members and teachers from various Kenya Defence Forces schools, fostering unity, faith formation, and leadership development among young Catholics.
