The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, chaired the 15th Board of Directors Meeting of Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) on 20th June 2025 in Mombasa.
The meeting focused on reviewing audited financial reports, evaluating the progress of ongoing projects, and presenting the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certificate—an acknowledgment of KSL’s commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.
In his remarks, General Kahariri highlighted the strategic importance of KSL in bolstering national security, driving economic development, and enhancing regional maritime stability. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revitalizing the maritime sector and reiterated the vision of establishing Kenya Shipyards Limited as a regional hub for shipbuilding and marine engineering.
During the session, the KSL Managing Director, Major General Mohammed Farah, briefed the Board on current operations, including ongoing shipbuilding, refit, and maintenance projects.
Following the meeting, Board members toured the shipyard, engaged with technical teams, and inspected major infrastructure upgrades currently in progress.
