In a significant milestone in the ongoing fight against banditry and in support of youth empowerment in the North Rift region, Victory International in partnership with the Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) multi-agency team officially commissioned the Naudo Community Youth Development Centre (CYDC) in Silale, Baringo County.
The long-awaited facility, whose ground breaking ceremony took place in 2023, is now a reality and stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the local youth. It is envisioned to serve as a safe space for mentorship, vocational training, and social transformation, steering young people away from crime and towards nation-building.
Speaking on behalf of the OMU Commander, Brigadier Joel Arimi, Major Jairus Kakai thanked the people of Silale for their cooperation with security agencies and for their courage in safeguarding the area against elements of insecurity.
“This region was once synonymous with banditry and lawlessness, especially along this corridor. Today, your collective decision to choose peace and block the routes used by criminals has borne fruit. The opening of this centre is proof that peace brings development,” said Maj Kakai.
The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), as part of the OMU team, played a key role in supporting the establishment of the centre by providing critical amenities such as clean water to aid in the day-to-day operations of the institution. This contribution underscores the military’s commitment to long-term stability through community support and development.
The event was attended by various dignitaries including National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), Officers from the National Police Service, Baringo County officials, and local community leaders. Residents of Silale turned out in large numbers to witness the inauguration, reflecting the deep local support for the facility and the peace-building efforts.
The Naudo CYDC is part of broader efforts by the OMU multi-agency framework to integrate soft power approaches such as civic education, youth engagement, and socio-economic empowerment into its overall security strategy in the North Rift.
