On 27 June 2025, Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Mohamed Shemote presided over the graduation ceremony of Senior Leadership Course (SLC) No. 04 for the 2024/2025 Financial Year at the 15 Kenya Rifles (15KR) in Mariakani, Kilifi County.

The Senior Leadership Course is specifically tailored to equip Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) with advanced competencies in Leadership, Command, and Management, essential for effective performance in various units and formations across the Kenya Navy and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

The 11-week course covered a wide array of modules including practical field exercises, personnel administration, logistics, and life skills-all designed to prepare service members for the complex demands of modern military operations and deployments.

In his remarks, Brigadier Shemote commended the graduates for their dedication, resilience, and determination. He emphasized that the skills acquired would enhance both individual performance and the operational efficiency of the Kenya Navy.

“Today is not just a celebration of achievement; it is a recognition of commitment, discipline, sacrifice, and progression. This course has been no small feat. It demanded physical resilience, mental fortitude, adaptability, and above all, the willingness to grow as individuals who are a vital leadership link in the KDF,” said Brigadier Shemote.

Brigadier Shemote further emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, noting that adaptive leadership remains a cornerstone of mission success in dynamic and often unpredictable military operations.

Commandant Kenya Naval Training College, Colonel Benson Karuimbo, urged the graduates to uphold discipline, professionalism, and excellence, serving as examples of strong leadership. He reminded them of the dynamic nature of modern warfare, driven by technological advancements, and encouraged them to promote best practices in their duties.

Present during the ceremony were senior officers, officers and service members.
