RETIRED GENERAL OFFICERS VISIT GENERAL (RTD) MOHAMED

In a visit marked by vibrant reflections and deep camaraderie, retired Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) General Officers on 10 July 2025 paid a courtesy call on General (Rtd) Mohamud Haji Mohamed at his residence in Nairobi.

The delegation was led by General (Rtd) Joseph Kibwana and included Lt Gen (Rtd) Daniel Opande, Lt Gen (Rtd) Lazaro Sumbeiywo, Maj Gen (Rtd) Dedan Gichuru, Maj Gen (Rtd) Joe Musomba, and Maj Gen (Rtd) Geoffrey Okanga.

The visit served as an opportunity to honour General Mohamed’s exemplary leadership, mentorship, and role in shaping the careers of many within the KDF — including those of the visiting retired officers. It also celebrated his distinguished service, marked by courage, loyalty, and a steadfast commitment to the nation.

General Mohamed began his military career in 1955 and rose through the ranks to become the 4th Chief of the General Staff, serving from 1986 to 1996.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting officers, General (Rtd) Kibwana lauded General Mohamed’s unwavering dedication and commitment during his tenure, noting that it was through his loyalty, professionalism, and exemplary leadership that he ascended to the pinnacle of military service.

In response, General Mohamed expressed gratitude to his guests and shared reflections on national progress and the importance of peace.

“Throughout my retirement, I have remained informed about developments in our beloved country through newspapers, commentaries, and news broadcasts. I am cognisant that achieving socio-economic prosperity demands peace and stability. The complex and evolving security challenges we face today require vigilance and broad knowledge. Those in active service must therefore discharge their duties with loyalty and dedication,” he remarked.

Also present during the visit were members of General Mohamed’s immediate family.
