KENYA ARMY HOLDS FORMATION COMMANDERS CONFERENCE

The Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Keter, presided over the annual Kenya Army Formation Commanders Conference held on 9 July 2025 at Kahawa Garrison, Nairobi.

The pivotal one-day forum brought together senior leaders from across the Kenya Army to deliberate on operational, personnel and logistics issues, share insights, and develop strategies aimed at enhancing the readiness and effectiveness of the Kenya Army.

The conference provided a strategic platform for Formation Commanders to present reports and engage in candid discussions on national and regional security concerns. Central to the dialogue were emerging threats such as terrorism and cyber warfare issues that continue to impact military operations and the stability of the nation’s worldwide.

In his keynote address, Lt Gen Keter emphasized the importance of the gathering, describing it as a defining moment for shaping the Army’s response to evolving challenges.

“This is not a routine gathering. It is a moment to forge strategies, foster unity, and strengthen our resolve to meet today’s challenges and shape the victories of tomorrow. The world is changing, and with it, the nature of our mission. I have no doubt that under your leadership, we will confront these challenges and secure our nation’s future. The eyes of the nation are upon us, and the hopes of our soldiers rest with us. Let us move forward as resolute, relentless, and ready,” said Lt Gen Keter.

Throughout the day, discussions centered on integrating emerging technologies into military operations, improving inter-formation collaboration, and enhancing overall operational preparedness. The commanders agreed on a range of actionable steps, including revitalized training programs and stronger coordination with regional partners to address shifting security dynamics.

The conference concluded with a firm commitment to uphold the Kenya Army’s culture of professionalism and excellence, reinforcing the KDF’s position as a capable and dependable force in defending national and regional stability.
