Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed under Operation Amani Boni in Sector North, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health officials at Hulugho Sub-County Hospital joined hands to support the ongoing immunization campaign against measles and typhoid. The 10-day medical exercise which commenced on Saturday, 5 July 2025, covering various areas within the Garissa County is scheduled to conclude on Monday, 14 July 2025.

During the launch of the exercise, Sergeant Robert Nyandika from KDF praised the Ministry of Health and the government for their steadfast commitment to delivering healthcare services to the people of Hulugho. He further acknowledged the vital contribution of local communities in fostering peace through their continued cooperation with security forces.

“I commend the Ministry of Health for their dedication to supporting communities in remote areas. Your efforts continue to make a meaningful impact. I also thank the local residents for their strong collaboration with our troops in promoting peace and stability,” stated Sgt Nyandika.

Speaking during the outreach, Mr. Musa Yehow, the representative from Hulugho Sub-County Hospital who accompanied the KDF team, noted a significantly improved turnout compared to previous health campaigns. He credited the success to the enduring collaboration between the KDF and the local community, along with the consistent medical support provided by the troops.

“We witnessed a much better turnout than in past outreach efforts by the Ministry of Health in the same regions due to the good relationship between the KDF and the local residents,” noted Mr. Musa.

This joint outreach not only reflects a united front between the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Defence Forces but also underscores the power of trust and cooperation in achieving lasting impact. By blending security presence with essential health services for the people, the initiative has deepened community ties and reaffirmed the shared commitment to safeguarding both the well-being and stability of the region.
