KDF PATNER WITH BATUK AND COUNTY MEDICS FOR A THREE DAY MEDICAMP IN LAIKIPIA EAST

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), in collaboration with the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) and Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital (NTRH) medical personnel, conducted three medical camps at Lokusero, Mosul and Nosorai during Exercise Haraka serpent in Laikipia East Sub-County.

The medical camps which complement Government health efforts benefited more than five hundred persons by providing general medical consultations, laboratory testing, cervical cancer screening, family planning services, and antenatal clinics. Additionally, health education sessions were conducted to raise awareness on key health issues, including maternal and child health, nutrition, and hygiene practices.

Speaking at Lokusero, Captain (Dr) Peter Gakuna, a KDF Medical Officer emphasized the importance of regular quality medical check-ups noting that access to such ensures that everyone obtains necessary and appropriate medical services.

“Quality medical care helps individuals to stay healthy and improves overall well-being of the person,” he added.

Mr. Stephen Lekonsoi, Chief Oloiborsoit noted that residents normally travel far in search of medical care and the medicamp has really helped.

” Our people walk more than twenty five kilometers to reach the nearest dispensary. This medicamp is a real relief to us,” he noted.

The medical camps provided quality healthcare services to remote communities and focused on promoting preventive healthcare and enhancing access to essential medical services an initiative which is part of a broader community outreach program designed to strengthen civil-military cooperation and improve the well-being of residents in hard-to-reach areas.
