NDU-K HOLDS ITS 10TH REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING 

The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri who is also the Chairperson of the university, today chaired the 10th Regular Council Meeting of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi.

The meeting provides a platform for the University’s highest decision-making body, delivering policy and strategic direction in shaping Kenya’s Defence and Security landscape.

The session marks the fourth meeting in the 2024/2025 academic year and the second in the current financial year. It brought together a diverse panel of council members including, Service Commanders from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), representatives from the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Education.

In his remarks, the CDF commended the university management, led by the Vice Chancellor Lt Gen David Tarus, for the remarkable milestones achieved over the past years. He highlighted that the institution has made significant strides in academic programming and institutional growth within the period. General Kahariri particularly pointed out the ongoing research activities and academic programs that have been initiated by the university, especially the PHD program in crisis and disaster management.

The CDF similarly underscored the need for the university to remain focused on academic programs aligning with NDU-K strategic mandate.

The meeting also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to fostering a globally competitive Defence University rooted in professionalism and strategic research.
