KDF LEADS YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES IN RALLYING FOR PEACE THROUGH FOOTBALL

A team drawn from KDF emerged champions of the ongoing Kerio Valley Cross-Border Peace Football Tournament held at Tot Primary School in Elgeyo Marakwet. The tournament, a key peacebuilding initiative in the region, brought together KDF Football Club (FC), Kolowa FC, TOT FC, and Kaben FC in a series of competitive and spirited matches.

Sponsored by International Alert, in collaboration with the Catholic Justice and Peace Department and Finn Church Aid (FCA), the tournament aimed to harness the unifying power of football to promote dialogue, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among communities in the Kerio Valley.

KDF’s participation highlights the military’s continued use of sports as a tool to engage communities, reinforce peace and build trust among communities in areas previously affected by insecurity.

Beyond the final whistle, the real victory lies in the strengthened cross-border relationships, community interactions, and youth empowerment witnessed throughout the tournament.
