The three-day Concept Development Conference (CDC) for the 14th East African Community (EAC) Armed Forces Command Post Exercise (CPX) officially concluded at the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS), Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi, Kenya.
The forum brought together participants from EAC Partner States’ Defence Forces, Police, the Civilian Component, and other key stakeholders. The delegates worked collaboratively to conceptualize strategies aimed at strengthening regional capacity to jointly respond to emerging and complex security threats in line with the EAC Protocol on Cooperation in Defence Affairs.
During the deliberations, participants explored integrated mission planning approaches covering Peace Support Operations (PSO), Disaster Management (DM), Counter-Terrorism (CT), and Counter-Piracy (CP). The discussions emphasized the importance of interoperability and collective readiness in enhancing the EAC Armed Forces’ capability to effectively address multidimensional security challenges confronting the region.
In his closing remarks, the Chairperson of the Conference and Chief of Training, at Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Brigadier Paul Koech, commended the delegates for their dedication and invaluable contributions. He noted that the developed concept will serve as a critical foundation for the subsequent stages of planning and the eventual execution of the 14th EAC Armed Forces CPX Ushirikiano Imara 2026, scheduled to take place in May 2026.
The Conference further proposed the theme for the upcoming exercise as: “Enhancing Regional Cooperation and Readiness for Peace, Security, and Resilience.” The theme underscores the necessity of a united regional approach in confronting and overcoming shared security threats, while also highlighting the EAC’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability across the region.
The Conference came to a formal conclusion with the official signing of the Concept Development Document by representatives of the EAC Partner States. This signing signified a collective commitment to the exercise and cemented the resolve of the region’s defence and security organs to work together in pursuit of peace, security, and resilience.
