STAGE SET FOR LAUNCH OF SIAYA PROJECTS

The stage is set for next month’s ground breaking ceremony for the modernization of Siaya Referral Hospital and expansion of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon Soipan Tuya on Tuesday hosted Siaya Governor H.E James Orengo at Ulinzi House to review the progress of preliminary activities for the two priority Government infrastructure projects.

The review exercise, also attended by Defence Principal Secretary Dr Patrick Mariru and Director Personnel and Logistics Major General Edward Rugendo, included harmonization of architectural drawings and scope of works.

In partnership with Siaya County Government, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) through Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will oversee the construction of a new 5-storey block that will expand the capacity of Siaya Level 5 Hospital by 500 beds.

The expansion of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium that will include construction of new terraces and roof will raise the multi-sport facility’s capacity from the current 5,500 to 20,000-seater.

MOD’s Chief of Special Projects Brig Titus Sokobe and Head of Supply Chain Management Mr Willis Olwalo were present in the meeting also attended by Siaya County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) Mr George Nyingiro (Finance and Planning) and Maurice McOrege (Lands and Physical Planning).
