MOI AIR BASE HOSTS SEMINAR ON GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

On 11 September 2025, the Moi Air Base Welfare Office held a one-day seminar at Talanta Centre under the theme “Strong Families Strong Force.” The forum, facilitated by Kenya Air Force and Life Ministries Family Kenya, addressed Gender Based Violence, family support, gambling, and online disorders.

Acting Deputy Base Commander Colonel Symon Buuri underscored the threat of Gender Based Violence to discipline and cohesion. “Marriage and family form the first unit of command for every soldier. A soldier who cannot respect his family cannot be trusted in the line of duty. Let us all have zero tolerance to GBV,” reiterated Col Buuri.

Base Welfare Officer Major Kepha Plimo called on participants to uphold family values. “Respect and responsibility at home show true leadership at work. Violence in our families is betrayal to our oath as soldiers,” he said.

Facilitators from Life Ministries Family Kenya enriched the session by sharing personal marital experiences and practical ways of navigating challenges. Their candid reflections encouraged participants to embrace tolerance, strengthen bonds, and build families anchored on mutual respect.
