The Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Netball Challenge Cup, commonly known as the BORA Cup, officially began on Monday, September 16, 2025, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
Colonel Gideon Bebora, the Chairman of the Defence Forces Netball Association (DFNA), started off the tournament.
Fifteen teams are competing fiercely for honour and excellence on the court.
The participating units include 2 Brigade, 4 Brigade, 6 Brigade, 8 Brigade, 110 Brigade, Army Special Operations Brigade, Armoured Brigade, Artillery Brigade, Combat Battle Team Engineers Brigade, Construction Engineers Brigade, Kahawa Garrison, Moi Air Base, Laikipia Air Base, Wajir Air Base, Kenya Navy Mtongwe Base, and Kenya Navy Manda Base.
Colonel Bebora praised the organisers and participating teams for their dedication and commitment, emphasising that sports are crucial to military life.
“The BORA Cup represents discipline, unity, and victory—the very spirit of a soldier,” he said.
He also urged the athletes to show professionalism, fairness, and a competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
Over the years, the BORA Cup has become a premier sporting event on the KDF calendar, reflecting the Forces’ tradition of nurturing talent and promoting wellness alongside operational effectiveness.
As the matches progress at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, morale remains high, with players and fans united under the values of discipline, teamwork, and service to the nation.
The opening day set an exciting pace, and anticipation builds as teams continue their quest for supremacy.
