LECTURE OF OPPORTUNITY BY DEPUTY COMMANDER KENYA NAVY TO JOINT COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE KAREN

The Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa today on 30 May 2025, gave a lecture of opportunity to participants of Course 40 of 2024/25 of Joint Command and Staff College – Karen. On arrival, the Deputy Commander Kenya Navy was received by the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the College, Brigadier David Chesire.

In his presentation entitled; Geopolitical Rivalries and Naval Expansion in the Western Indian Ocean, the Deputy Commander Kenya Navy shared his insights on great power competition, Importance of maritime domain, framework for security response, regional security challenges and the future of maritime environment.

The lecture of opportunity deepened course participants’ knowledge and understanding of the security environment of the Western Indian Ocean Maritime Domain and its influence to the region.

The lecture of opportunity is a series of lectures by senior military leadership to the Course Participants as they prepare to graduate and take up higher responsibilities in their various units and militaries.
