ULINZI HEALTH SERVICES FUND AND KCB MEET

Ulinzi Health Services Fund (UHSF) and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) technical teams on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, held a consultative meeting at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) to deliberate on the redevelopment of the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH) to Level V facility standards.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Joseph Mutuma, the Senior Chief Financial Officer (SCFO) Ministry of Defence, who lauded the ongoing collaboration between KCB and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

“The Ministry of Defence remains fully committed to strengthening our health infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our service members,” Mr. Mutuma said. “We value KCB’s partnership, which continues to demonstrate how public–private collaborations can drive tangible progress.”

Brigadier (Dr.) Atanasius Odhiambo, the Managing Director, Ulinzi Health Services Fund (UHSF), emphasized the significance of modernizing DFMH, describing it as a key pillar in the KDF’s medical framework.

“The redevelopment of DFMH to a Level V standard hospital is not only just an upgrade but also a strategic investment in the health and readiness of our troops,” Brig. (Dr.) Odhiambo noted. “A facility of this calibre will ensure that KDF personnel and their families access specialized care that meets the highest standards.”

Mr. Kennedy Mbaya, KCB’s Relationship Manager who led the bank’s delegation, reaffirmed KCB’s commitment to supporting the Ministry of Defence in its modernization agenda.

“Our partnership with KDF continues to grow stronger,” Mr. Mbaya remarked. “KCB is dedicated to backing initiatives that enhance health and welfare services for those who serve the nation.”

The meeting concluded with both teams outlining a roadmap for the redevelopment project, marking another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between KCB and the Ministry of Defence.
