KDF JOINS MULTI-AGENCY SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS

Kenya Defence Forces personnel are among a multi-agency team conducting search and rescue operations in Chesongoch, Elgeyo Marakwet County, following flash floods that struck the area.

The operation, launched on 1 November 2025, immediately after the incident, involves collaboration between Kenya Air Force’s Rapid Response Unit (RRU) teams, the Kenya Red Cross, Eldoret Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) staff, the National Police Service, and local volunteers. The joint effort has focused on rescuing survivors, recovering victims, and providing emergency medical assistance to those affected.

By the close of Day two, the rescue team had confirmed Cumulative figures stand at twenty-two (22) fatalities, twenty-nine (29) injuries, and twenty (20) persons unaccounted for. The deceased and injured were airlifted to Eldoret MTRH aboard Kenya Air Force and National Police Service helicopters for urgent medical attention and post-disaster management.

Search and rescue operations are set to continue, with the Kenya Defence Forces Disaster Response Battalion (DRB) expected to reinforce the ongoing efforts. The multi-agency team remains committed to saving lives and supporting affected families during this tragic event.
