KENYA ARMY RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP 2025

Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter, presided over the closing ceremony of the Kenya Army Rifle Championship 2025 held at Laikipia KDF Range in Nanyuki on 19th November 2025. The event aimed at celebrating skills and reinforcing a core pillar of soldiering under the theme, ‘Marksmanship Defines the Soldier- The Foundation of Mission Readiness.’

The championship offered a platform to demonstrate Kenya Army’s preparedness, tactical discipline and readiness to execute its mission with precision. Further providing a credible platform to identify, refine and prepare the teams that shall present the Kenya Army during the upcoming Kenya Defence Forces Rifle Championship, a joint rifle competition involving teams from all KDF Services.

The championship showcased a diverse range of categories including the Army Commander’s Challenge Cup, Uhodari Cup, Vijana Cup, Falling Plates, Sniper Cup and the Moving Target Challenge, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of the Army’s training initiatives.

110 Brigade emerged the champions by securing the Army Commander Challenge cup, Moving Target Challenge and Falling Plates trophy, while 4 Brigade won the Uhodari Cup and Officers Falling Plate trophy. 6 Brigade won the Vijana Challenge Cup while Construction Engineer Brigade won the Shifta Cup.

In his address Lt Gen Ketter highlighted the importance of this year’s championship and commended the performance showcased by the various Army Formations and the levels of proficiency demonstrated by every soldier.

“Your performance has reinforced one clear message; that the potential for growth is immense and with consistent effort we shall elevate our accuracy, confidence and operational readiness,” said Lt Gen Ketter.

He added: “Your triumph is a testament to courage, discipline and technical mastery. Every experience is an opportunity to learn, to adapt and to sharpen. You gave your best and represented your Formations with honour.”

Present during the championship were Deputy Commander, Kenya Army Maj Gen Mohamed Hassan, General Officer Commanding, Eastern Command, Maj Gen Luka Kutto, Managing Director Kenya Meat Commission Maj Gen Jattani Gulla, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
