CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE FORCES 2025 GOLF CUP 

On 22 November 2025, the Chief of the Defence Forces (KDF), General Charles Kahariri, led participants during the Chief of Defence Forces Golf Cup at the Diamonds Leisure Beach and Golf Resort in Diani, Kwale County.

The annual tournament, organised by the Kenya Defence Forces Golf Association (KDFGA) aimed to strengthen unity, promote physical fitness and create an informal space for interaction among Kenya Defence Forces personnel. It also contributed to fostering civil–military relations through the participation of sponsors, invited guests and partners.

In his address during the tournament, the CDF applauded all players, noting that the event fosters unity, reinforces discipline and offers a refreshing break from the rigours of military duty.

He expressed gratitude to the hosts, sponsors and partners for their contribution to the tournament’s success, highlighting the value of camaraderie in sports.

The competition featured outstanding performances across multiple categories with several participants earning top honours.

Among the notable winners were Maj (Dr) M. Kinyanjui, the overall KDFGA champion, Major Joel Mochanga, Division A winner, Senior Sapper Abraham Lokatam, Division B winner, Constable II Doris Wangari, the ladies’ champion and Mr. William Odeck, the elite amateur winner.

Brigadier (Rtd) Lawrence Gituma claimed the veterans’ title while Ambassador Dr. Monica Juma emerged the top winner in the sponsors’ category.

Throughout the competition, participants demonstrated remarkable skill from powerful drives to precise approach play and composed putts on fast greens showcasing the concentration, patience and sportsmanship that golf demands.

Present during the event was Dr. Monica Juma, National Security Advisor to the President, Major General Paul Otieno, Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Eric Kinuthia, Patron KDFGA, Major General Thomas Ng’ang’a, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration and Finance at National Defence University Kenya, Major General Timothy Lekolool, Senior Directing Staff at National Defence College, Serving and Retired Generals, Senior Officers, Officers, Military Wives Association of Kenya, Service Members and golfers from various clubs.
