MOI AIR BASE CONCLUDES YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

Moi Air Base concluded its four-week Youth Mentorship Programme in a ceremony led by the Base Commander, Brigadier Herbert Wafula, at the Lieutenant General Thuita Talanta Theatre Auditorium. The programme, guided by the theme “An Empowered Youth is an Empowered Nation,” aimed to equip pupils drawn from Kenya Air Force personnel families with essential life skills during the December holiday.

Participants received guidance on social, academic, and health matters, including sessions on HIV and AIDS prevention, positive lifestyle choices, and the risks associated with early teenage sex and early marriage. Career professionals also introduced the pupils to opportunities in technical, academic, medical, and aviation fields.

A key highlight was an air experience flight aboard Kenya Air Force aircraft, offering the pupils a rare and inspiring exposure to aviation.

Brigadier Wafula congratulated the participants for their discipline and encouraged them to embrace the values learned. “Our theme this year reminds us that the strength of our country lies in the potential of its young people,” he said. “Use your time wisely, avoid risky behaviour, and remain focused on your future.”

Parents and facilitators praised the initiative for shaping responsible and confident young citizens. The ceremony reaffirmed Moi Air Base’s commitment to youth empowerment and community centred engagement.
