KENYA SIGNALS COMPANY CROWNED CHAMPIONS IN INTERCONTINGENT YEAR-END RUN

Kenya Signals Company 3 (KENSIG-3) troops serving under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) participated in the year-end celebration run organized by the Indian Level 2 Plus Hospital in Goma.

The event was presided over by the Central Sector Commander/Acting Deputy Force Commander, Brigadier General Salil Mohan Padma, and brought together troops drawn from various MONUSCO contingents. Participating units included the Uruguay Battalion (URUBATT), Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion (INDRDB), Indian Level 4 Hospital, Morocco Battalion and Bangladesh contingent.

KENSIG-3 troops recorded an outstanding performance in the competitive endurance runs. Captain Simon Wateya and Corporal Isaac Osanya secured second position in the 25 km and 20 km runs respectively, while Lance Corporal Samwel Kevolwe attained position 3 in the 9 km race category, all demonstrating a high level of physical fitness and stamina.

Additionally, Captain Maureen Wanja was accorded special recognition as the only female competitor in the run, earning praise for her exceptional resilience and determination.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Padma commended the participating troops for stepping out to showcase their physical fitness, teamwork and esprit de corps. He congratulated all participants for their commitment and performance and wished them a happy and prosperous New Year.

“I commend your team spirit demonstrated through this run. Such activities strengthen unity and operational readiness. I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.”
