On Monday 12 January 2026, the Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College, Major General Eric Kinuthia presided over the opening of the Junior Joint Command and Staff Course, JJCSC 103/2026. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, Brigadier David Chesire, along with the College’s Heads of Departments.
In his remarks, the Commandant emphasized that the course is specifically designed to transform selected Officers into highly competent staff officers and reliable leaders capable of excelling in joint operational environments. He highlighted the individual responsibility each student bears in achieving the course’s goals and objectives. The Commandant also reminded the Officers that their performance during the course will significantly influence future appointments and contribute directly to the operational effectiveness and readiness of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
The Junior Joint Command and Staff Course 103/2026 comprises 60 Officers drawn from the Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force and Kenya Navy. The 14-week programme equips junior officers with the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes required for effective command and staff duties at unit, formation and service levels.
The Joint Command and Staff College continues to play a pivotal role in building professional capacity within the KDF and fostering jointness across the Services.
